LUNGS

Written by Duncan Macmillan

Directed by Louis Emmitt-Stern

Louis Emmitt-Stern directed the Gibraltar premiere of Duncan Macmillan’s Lungs, as a response to climate-change debates during the 2019 Gibraltar General Election, and the Gibraltar abortion referendum in 2020.

Gibraltar's first theatre production post-lockdown, Lungs received a sold-out run and critical acclaim from HM Government of Gibraltar Minister for the Environment, Sustainability, Climate Change, Heritage and Culture, the Hon Dr John Cortes, amongst several other Members of Parliament.

Lungs opened on 21 July 2020, directed by Louis Emmitt-Stern, and performed by Christina Linares and Louis Emmitt-Stern. It was co-produced by Louis Emmitt-Stern and the Gibraltar Cultural Services, part of Gibraltar's Ministry for Culture.

"Louis Emmitt-Stern has made the most of his lockdown by directing this small but mighty production."

(Gibraltar Magazine).

"Outstanding performances by Christina Linares and Louis Emmitt-Stern in Lungs at John Mackintosh Studio. Throught provoking and inspiring"

(Hon Dr John Cortes, HM Government of Gibraltar, via twitter).

"Totally in awe by Christina Linares and Louis Emmitt-Stern for their powerful performances... for those that say there's not enough of this type of stuff in Gibraltar, this is it!

(Marlene Hassan Nahon, MP & Leader of Together Gibraltar Party, via twitter).
